Teacher Conferences

ASLA's First Conference
The Atlantic Science Links Association (ASLA) held its first free conference for science teachers on Friday August 25th, 2017 at the Life Sciences Centre, Dalhousie University.
ASLA's Second Conference
The second conference, held on August 28th, 2018, used a variety of hands-on activities to introduce teachers to methods illustrating concepts in a variety of science disciplines.
ASLA's Third Conference
Translating advanced climate science into a compelling lesson plan aimed at teenagers might seem like a tall order, but ASLA's most recent teacher conference in 2022 offered junior high teachers from a leg up with the task.
ASLA's Fourth Conference
Enthusiastic science teachers from seven regional centres for education and private schools across Nova Scotia attended the highly anticipated fourth conference, braving the rain on Saturday, in the third week of November.

Science Contests for Students

ASLA's First Contest
 
ASLA held its first Junior High Science Contest for students in grades seven, eight, and nine on April 24th. ASLA’s contest — the first of its kind in Nova Scotia — spurred interest from 1,957 students from 29 schools across the province

ASLA held its second Junior High Science Contest for students in grades seven, eight, and nine across Nova Scotia on December 5th, 2023. A total of 1281 students from 20 schools across the province registered for this exciting challenge.
